Major Depression

Major depression also referred to as major depressive disorder is when five or more symptoms of the condition are present for at least two weeks. These signs and symptoms include irritability, restlessness, agitation and significant change in appetite often with weight loss or gain. Other symptoms include fatigue and lack of energy, difficulties in concentrating as well as feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness and guilt. Trouble falling asleep or excessive sleeping, inactivity and withdrawal from activities that you once enjoyed are other indicators. Another symptom is thoughts of death and suicide.

This condition is diagnosed when you report having five or more of the above symptoms for at least two weeks. The exact causes of major depression are unknown but researchers believe that it is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain which may be hereditary or caused by certain events in your life. Stressful events can trigger this condition but normally it is a combination of factors. This illness affects men and women of all ages and races.

Medications and counseling are the main types of treatment for this disorder. Often, a combination of these two treatments is used. Studies have shown that when antidepressants are combined with psychotherapy, they are more effective than when only one is used.

Electroconvulsive therapy or ECT is another treatment for major depression. It is used when you have failed to respond to medications and psychotherapy. This treatment causes a seizure by means of an electrical current. It is used to improve the mood of severely depressed or suicidal people.

10 Free Ways To Treat Naturally Treat Anxiety

1. Deep breaths – Simple breathing is one of the quickest and most effective ways to instantly treat anxiety. When you start to feel anxious take three slow, deep breaths; in your mouth, and out your nose and you should start to instantly feel relief from your anxiety. You can do this as many times as necessary, and can also close your eyes for increased relief.

2. Eliminate caffeine from your diet – Caffeine is a stimulant that increases your heart rate and makes you more anxious. By eliminating caffeine from your diet you will feel decreased levels of anxiety. If stopping entirely is too hard you can slowly decrease your caffeine consumption day to day until your feel decreased anxiety.

3. Daily exercise – Exercise is an extremely effective way to treat anxiety. Exercising at least 30 minutes a day will cause an increased flow of blood and oxygen to your brain which lower stress and anxiety. In addition, daily exercise will improve your self esteem which also decrease feelings of anxiety.

4. Keeping a journal – By keeping a daily journal of your life where you can write about all your frustrations and problems you are releasing much of the anxiety that can haunt you throughout the day. If you write it all down it can help give you perspective and help you understand the scope of these problems. If you let the problems just fester in your mind they can multiply and the problems become much bigger in your head than they really are. These exaggerated problems can cause unnecessary anxiety in your life. It is much better to get everything on paper so you don’t exaggerate any of the problems.

5. Enough Sleep – Sleep deprivation is one of the most common causes of anxiety. Recent evidence suggests that the most healthy amount of sleep per night is 6-8 hours. Always make sure to get a minimum of six hours of sleep per night to alleviate anxiety. Also too much sleep can lead to depression and increased anxiety. In addition to the right amount of sleep per night your body also functions the best with consistency. Make every effort to wake up at the same time every morning, and go to sleep at the same time every night. By getting the correct amount of consistent sleep every night your anxiety will start to decrease.
br />
6. Talk – Talking to a close friend or family member that you trust completely about your problems and what’s troubling you can help put your mind at ease about the problems. Anxiety is caused by worrying, and if your mind is at ease about your problems then you will worry less and feel less anxiety in your life.

7. Positive Thinking – Changing your thought patterns from negative thinking to positive thinking is a very long and difficult process but the effects can be tremendous. You will start to feel better about yourself, and everything you’re doing. This will decrease anxiety and social anxiety because of how you feel about yourself. To change your thought patterns you must consciously correct yourself everytime you catch yourself having a negative thought. Identify positive things you like about yourself and think three positive thoughts for every negative thought you catch yourself thinking. Over time you will begin to naturally think positively. This is a great habit to get into, and in addition to helping your anxiety problems it will benefit many other areas of your life as well.

8. Pets – Pets are proven to increase happiness and calmness, and decrease anxiety and blood pressure. Pets also make great outlets to talk to about your problems and help you deal with challenges in your life.

9. Get out in nature – The fast paced life style that the modern world requires causes undue anxiety for many people. By getting out in nature and learning to appreciate the world for what it is will help keep you grounded and living a peaceful life. You can also exercise at the same time by going hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, or trail running.

10. Spend time with loved ones – Spending time with people you love and who love you will help you feel better about yourself and help alleviate anxiety in your life. Often times people feel that they are being constantly judged and this makes them anxious trying to live up to others expectations. By being around people who accept you unconditionally this anxiety will go away.

Finally Joe Barry has been dooped, I have the uncensored, real truth about his Panic Away EBook…and others!

Wouldn’t it be nice to go out in public without fear, stay home alone without fear, fall asleep easily with no fear, to feel normal again?. I for one can tell you that this is possible. This is the stage I have reached with my anxiety and panic attacks.(Justin Brooke, Creator of NewAnxietyCure.com) Along the way I bought alot of really crappy anti-anxiety products. I mean some serious garbage! However, you have to be willing to do what it takes and learn from other peoples mistakes. I wrote this with the intention of helping you skip over a few mistakes I made, and save some money too!

To put it to you honestly there are alot of people just looking to make a quick buck on the fact that anxiety/depression victims are desperate to feel “normal” again. I have read atleast a hundred sales letters on anti-anxiety/depression products during my research to cure my own anxiety and panic attacks. There are some truly tempting claims out there. Some will say anything to seperate you from your greenbacks.

99% of the guys behind the products just want you to give them your email address so they can spam you everyday with their rediculous offers. In hopes that one day you will be desperate enough to come out of pocket. I know because I have been through the SPAMM filled email boxes, dissapointment, and refund hassles/stipulations. I finally got FED UP! I decided to be just as devious as they were being.

I researched the actual owners/creators of the products or programs and found their personal contact information. Then I called them up and acted as an investor. Once I convinced them I was prepared to buy ther whole “business,” website, product, license, and copyrights. All they saw were dollar signs flashing in their eyes. They quickly opened their backend, virtual offices and gave me all the information I could want.

I could not believe how honest some of them were with me, some even saying things like, “It doesn’t matter whether the information is correct, it’s all about profit, they are so desperate they’ll buy anything!”

99% of the supposed “legit business owners” disgusted me with their “quick buck” attitudes. Over and over again I found:

* Outdated information

* Lack of research

* Hidden contact information or none at all

* No support

* I even found some with false information.

I quickly realized that most of these products and programs were completely useless. Yet the owners were laughing all the way to the bank. Needless to say I didn’t respond to them when they asked if I was still interested in buying them out.

Surprisingly, I did eventually find a few diamonds in the rough. Chuck Linden and Joe Barry, great guys. They had incredibly low or no refund request rates. To you and I, that means happy, satisfied customers. You will be thoroughly impressed with their passion for helping people, and their genuine honesty. They also offer beneficial features on their websites, like one-on-one support and systems that have been approved by the National Institute of Mental Health.

Joe Barry of Panic Away, and Charles Linden, founder of The Linden Method have traveled the world, and spent thousands upon thousands of dollars. To create, from their own experiences, two of the most brilliant, best selling anti-anxiety products on the market. Chuck, ( Linden Method ) was even interviewed by the BBC. (The rest of the worlds major news provider, think CNN)

Chuck Linden, almost of you,I am sure have already heard of before. Chuck is the founder of the famous Linden Method. He offers a complete anxiety and panic attack treatment system that has been approved by the National Institute of Mental Health, which is no easy feat, and should speak volumes to his credibility.

Then we have Joe Barry, renowned anxiety expert. Joe is the author to one of the all-time best selling anxiety and panic attack help books called “Panic Away.” The information I read taught even myself, a profound anti-anxiety author, a few tricks.

In my honest opinion, dollar for dollar, you will never find or buy a book or join a therapy program better then Joe Barry’s, Panic Away.

You could tell they were really cutting the price down to the bare bones. They have it cut all the way down to just being able to afford the staff they have. Although, I was told that due to their huge growth they are going to be forced to raise the prices soon.

It is sad to hear but everyone understands needing to pay for the employees’, that make these wonderful products possible. I highly advise you join Chucks program and/or get Joe’s book before the prices go up. You will not be disappointed! It is a tiny price to pay for the chance to feel “normal” again.

Well this article got longer then intended so to wrap it up I’d just like to say that I strongly advise against signing up to just any program out there, or buying any ole Ebook. There are some really inexspensive products out their with fascinating claims. All I can say, without being sued for libel or slander, is “you get what you pay for, so buyer beware!”

P.S. I had forgotten to mention that Joe Barry’s Panic Away book sometimes comes with a one-on-one hotline number for those times when you really need someone to calm you down. I say sometimes because he only has so much time in a day. When a spot in his schedule book opens up he offers the hotline along with the book, but it doesn’t last long. So if you do see it posted on his website act fast or you could be waiting instead of healing.

P.P.S Chuck has an ongoing support hotline with inhouse professional therapists. Below I have included direct links to their websites for your conveinence. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best and remember… The key to beating anxiety is to get obsessed with learning, buy the best books, join the best programs, keep up the fight! You deserve a better quality of life.

If you’ve been trying to stop your overwhelming anxiety for any length of time, you’re probably already familiar with some of the more common strategies. Breathing techniques, mental exercises and finding physical outlets for stress are just a few. Granted, these tactics work pretty well, if you want to speed up the process, the following 5 natural herbs for anxiety are sure to do the trick.

I have to admit, prior to trying out the herbs listed below, I was pretty skeptical of the results. I’ve never considered myself the holistic, hippie type. I had some reluctance going the route of natural herbs to deal with my anxiety.

What finally convinced me was a simple yet effective remedy to nighttime panic that yielded amazing results.

I used to have a LOT of trouble getting to sleep at night. My mind would toss and turn and it seemed impossible to get to bed with the unstoppable, anxious thoughts rolling around in my head. A good friend told me to try Sleepytime tea with Valerian root by Celestial Seasons.

I figured I’d give it a shot. I picked up a box of the tea at my local supermarket and quickly discovered drinking it before bed was a great way to lull my body into a calm state.

The Valerian root in the tea decreased my anxiety like nothing I had ever found.

I decided to do a little research about the herb and found out that it has mild tranquilizing properties. Obviously it’s not the kind of thing you should ingest before operating heavy machinery or driving, but valerian root proved to be an awesome, gentle solution for my nighttime anxiety. It led me to do some more research.

I wasn’t looking for something that acted like a heavy drug; quite the contrary. I was looking to find natural supplements that I could weave into my diet to give me a nice, gentle way take the edge off daily stress.

After some trial and error, I came up with the 5 effective herbs for anxiety listed below. As always, talk to your doctor before using any of these herbs on a regular basis.

Passion Flower

Passion Flower acts as a non-drowsy, natural sedative that relieves intermittent nervousness, anxiety and panic attacks. It’s actually the vine of the passion flower that holds the soothing effects.

Rather than knock you out or make you sleepy, passion flower will make you feel emotionally balanced. It won’t give you a hyper, happy or excited feeling. Instead, passion flower will restrain your emotions from its range of extremes. If you have exaggerated emotions throughout the day (you go from very happy to very angry or sad), you may find passion flower to be a nice supplement.

St. Johns Wort

Extracts of this popular herb exert an antidepressant effect by inhibiting the reuptake of the neurotransmitters serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Dosage may vary. The one I took had a recommended serving of three grams of powder per day, but you really need to take it for weeks before results are felt. That said, if you just buy the supplement pills at your health store, this herb becomes a convenient way to ward off the blues.

Ginkgo Biloba

Used to improve circulation to the brain, Ginkgo Biloba elevates mood and is often used as a natural antidepressant. Side effects are minimal, but talk to your doctor if you decide to go this route. Ginkgo Biloba has been linked with bleeding disorders so you should do your homework before giving it a try.

Meadow Sweet

Meadow Sweet relieves headaches related to anxiety and stress. You can drink meadowsweet tea or extract as a convenient dietary supplement.

I have just a couple of warnings for you here. People with sensitivity to aspirin should avoid the use of meadow Sweet. Keep in mind, it should never be used to lower headaches or fevers in children as it may possibly lead to Reye’s syndrome.

Kava Kava

This is one of the most popular choices for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. It is a powerful herb from the South Seas. Used as an alternative to Valium, research studies have found it reduces anxiety equivalently. The advantage is that there are no addictive side effects with the Kava Kava.

Bear in mind, Kava Kava WILL knock you out. It acts as a sedative so don’t take it if you need to stay alert for any duration of time. This is a more powerful alternative if Valerian root isn’t getting rid of your nocturnal anxiety effectively enough.

Talk to you doctor and see if they advocate adding any of these natural herbs to your diet. I’ve tried the ones mentioned above. Your own results will vary but for myself, I found Valerian Root and St. Johns Wort to be the most beneficial for my specific anxiety traits.

Remember, adding these supplements to your daily routine won’t do a thing if you’re not engaging in the RIGHT anxiety fighting tactics. Knowing strategies that effectively reduce panic, stress and anxiety is the only way to get over your debilitating condition.

According to medical professionals, the best strategies for overcoming anxiety attacks include three possible treatments. These treatments include cognitive group behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and possible medication.

A psychologist or psychiatrist will decide which strategy is best for each patient in order to help the patient overcome their type of anxiety attacks. They first assess the severity of the symptoms that the patient is getting, the level of affect that anxiety attacks is having on the patient/patient’s life, and the ability of the patient to recover from their affliction.

Cognitive behavioral treatment (CBT) is one of the first treatments that will be attempted to resolve anxiety attacks. It is a form of psychotherapy that has been in use for varied mental illnesses and disorders for many decades. It works by analyzing the roots of fears experienced by the person getting the attacks.

The first strategic step in CBT is to determine the negative fears that are causing the patient’s anxiety. These are then categorized and assist the therapist in teaching the patient ways of controlling these fears, correcting the patient’s perceptions which result in these fears and then help them to restructure their thought patterns to avoid these unreasonable thoughts.

The strategies for treating anxiety attacks with cognitive behavioral treatment involve varied methods such as attribution, teaching the patient the difference between irrational/rational thoughts, and helping the patient to overcome past experiences that may have contributed to their irrational thoughts/fears. When it comes to children, psychiatrists can get to the root cause or trauma and help them to understand the event, learn to deal with what happened and cope with moving forward in life with a new positive approach and attitude versus simply forgetting what happened.

Another strategy that medical practitioners find useful is CGBT (cognitive group behavioral therapy). It is similar to CBT in its strategy for dealing with anxiety attacks, but in a group setting with other people who are suffering the same disorder and one or more group therapists. The aim of this strategy is to not only overcome the negative thought/fear processes attributed to anxiety attacks, but allow the patients to realize that they are not alone in what they suffer and have support from people who understand what it really feels like.

There are other important strategies for overcoming anxiety attacks that group therapy undertakes. These include:

·Group discussions of each individuals symptoms, perceptions, experiences and traumas

·The use of the group to show their support for individual anxiety attacks by encouraging the changes in thought/fear patterns and perceptions.

·The use of the group on outings to overcome anxiety attacks with people that each member feels can be trusted to not judge them or ridicule them, helping each member to avoid perceived embarrassment and the need to become isolated.

·The use of the group on outings to overcome anxiety attacks with people that each member feels can be trusted to help individual sufferers realize that social interaction with new people does not have to be fearful or even judgmental or embarrassing.

·The use of the group in varied situations in helping each individual anxiety attacks sufferer to no longer having the need to put on appearances in how they look, behave, talk or in regards to their abilities to lessen the likelihood of misinterpreted judgments by others.

·The use of the group in varied situations to support individual sufferers in learning that they no longer need to feel embarrassment or guilt in social situations.

·Group discussions to help each individual sufferer in overcoming anger resulting from previous situations or traumas.

·Group discussions to assist each individual sufferer in overcoming the need to please everyone, be a perfectionist, procrastinate, avoid social interactions and in becoming a realistic individual with self-confidence and self-esteem.

·Group discussions to assist each individual sufferer in dealing with times when social interaction does result in judgment or embarrassment by others.

These strategies for overcoming anxiety attacks have proven to be very useful in helping patients deal with their suffering. Studies have shown that both forms of cognitive behavioral therapies, CBT and CGBT, do succeed and allow each patient to move forward and enjoy normal, productive, socially interactive and happy lives. Of course, there are a few cases were the affects of the anxiety attacks are so deep rooted that the individual needs to combine these therapies with medication. However, if you do sufferer anxiety attacks, getting guidance from your doctor is the first best step to curing your pains, fears and negative thoughts.

Anxiety is a major contributing factor in creating psychological disorders and psychiatric problems. A chronic and persistent feeling of anxiety can be categorized as a case of Generalized Anxiety Disorder or GAD. On the other hand, a chronic and intense episode of anxiety during panic attacks is diagnosed as a Panic Disorder. There are numerous helpful treatments for reducing and avoiding anxiety attacks. One is through the use of hypnosis but how effective do hypnosis works in preventing anxiety and panic attacks?

Normally, people experience anxiety everyday especially in times when we are expose to a stressful situation. It may be an unpleasant feeling but anxiety serves as our body’s natural response to danger. In fact, anxiety is triggered every time that we feel threatened and it enables us to stay alert, be prepared and to keep our focus. However, constant feeling of anxiety can be very overwhelming that it can affect our relationship with our family and other people as well as interfere with our daily activities. In this case, one needs to seek a help of a professional.

Many have tried to control their anxiety using tranquilizers, anxiolytics and anti depressant drugs but this can only provide brief relief from anxiety. In order to gain full control over the problem, it is best to undergo therapy sessions.

Hypnosis, for example, works successfully in reducing and evading anxiety attacks because it can help a person find answers to whatever it is that causing his/her anxiety attacks. It can help someone to relax and allow that person to utilize the imagination in creative ways that feed the mind with positive thoughts.

Our imagination plays an important role in controlling our organs. It stimulates and sends electrical messages to different body systems particularly the nervous, endocrine and the immune systems. How the body responds to this stimulus depends on what kind of message it receives. For instance, a healthy thought creates a calming feeling while a disturbing idea produces anxiety.

Hypnosis can access and change alarming messages to a positive one and enables a person to reveal the root cause of his/her anxiety. Through understanding the cause of anxiety, a person can control the annoying symptoms of anxiety attacks.

Anxiety victims who subject themselves to hypnotherapy found the treatment sessions to be very relaxing and therapeutic that their anxiety levels were significantly reduced and they have avoided panic attacks. In addition, patients claimed that they were no longer dependent on prescription drugs to control the symptoms of their anxiety.
